RWC Needs You!

We need your help

We are missing a few vital volunteers in and around the centre.  If you would like to volunteer for any of these roles then we would like to hear from you.

You could be an existing volunteer or a member looking to help out and we would be most grateful for your support and assistance.

Handy Man – bulbs need changing, dry wipe boards need hanging, and leaflet holders want putting on the wall and a first aid kit needs putting up in Cyril Smith Court for our arm chair exercise class members. We have the tools, ladders and the drill so please let me know if you are willing and able.

Room setter / Housekeeper – we need reliable people to help us break down rooms and set up, clear away tea things, and fill dishwashers ready for the evening groups or the next day.  Light duties and all training given, including manual handling.

Kitchen Volunteers – we need at least another three volunteers who are under the age of 80 and willing to take the Food and Hygiene Course to help out and cover for absence in the kitchen during the week for light lunches and on a Thursday for the hot lunch.  We pay for the course which takes one day to complete and is very nicely delivered by professionals.  We will give you a full kitchen induction.

Tea Makers – making tea for clubs and classes is a very important role. Members really appreciate a cuppa being made for them, they can carry on their work in class and the tutor isn’t interrupted and can carry on teaching.  It’s a simple thing but a cuppa can mean so much too so many.  We have a need for tea makers for the

Wednesday Bridge Club

Wednesday morning Art Class

Thursday morning and afternoon Art Class

Thursday once a month Memory Lane Café and Sing-a-Long

DJ needed for the Tuesday Afternoon Social Club – they really need a dedicated DJ who can pick out from their selection a variety of good tunes to dance to.  They are open to anything in that club I tell you, Waltz, Ball Room, YMCA, sequence dances even the Macarena, Disco the works.  You name it they’ll get up and have a great time.  Each Tuesday 1.00pm to 3.00pm and you will be rewarded with tea and cake.

Group leaders needed too – have you ever fancied running a club or group? Would you be a joint leader for a club or group?  We realise that running a club is a tall order but if you had a seconder/buddy it would halve the work and allow you time off for holidays and other events.  We do impress onto our groups that in order to carry on they really need someone else who can share the load.

So here are some groups that either need new leaders or are groups we would like to start:

Group Leader for the Southgate and Enfield Friendship Group – already established club needs new leaders 1st Monday of the Month – Davies Room downstairs

Plus one Friday lunch a month in a pub

Monday 7.00pm – 9.30pm
Singing Group – new group we are trying to set up X 2 a month to start? Perhaps Day and time to be confirmed
Darts group – new group we are trying to set up Once a week – Alexandra Room upstairs Friday 12 noon until 2.00pm
German Conversation and tutor – We lost our last volunteer tutor.  Members really want to learn how to read, write and speak this language so if you have the abilities please let us know Once a week – Angelinetta Room upstairs Thursdays 12 noon to 1.30pm

If you are interested in any of these roles please call us.  You don’t have to commit to every week or month we are looking for Volunteers to BUDDY UP now so that you always have someone else who can run it with you or for you when you are away.  The more the merrier we say.

Please give us a call or pop in to discuss these in more detail, we’d love to hear from you.

We offer a full volunteer induction, hand book, benefits, a policy and code of conduct and you’ll be invited to join the 100 Hours ceremony at the Civic Centre each year, our Volunteers Tea Party and Christmas Bring and Share party.

We look forward to hearing from you!
